Teal and Pink Anniversary Card

Image
Hello and happy Wednesday. Today I am sharing an anniversary card. I like to have a few of each card theme in stock in case one is needed at the last minute. Here is one that is quite fancy and frilly but it has lots of little details if you look closely. To begin I actually made all the flowers. The pink ones are made from pearlised card. I cut two layers of a flower die for each one. To give them their shape I wet each layer and shaped each petal by gentle scrunching it around a pen to give it a curved shaped. Once dry I added a little distress oxide to the edges of each petal and then glued them together. The smaller foam flowers were cut out of a different die, inked on the edges again and then heated on an iron to make them curl. I added a few stamens then glued them together again. I then die cut all the card layers and inked some of the edges again in the same worn lipstick distress oxide. I did some partial stamping across the two white layers using an Alten

Greenhouse Gatefold Card!

Image
Hello, today I am sharing this greenhouse card that I made over the weekend. I had this idea after buying a cute Sizzix die set called Garden Shed. I used them, plus a couple of extra garden themed dies from my stash,  to decorate the inside . I created the front of the card from a piece of 12 x 6 inch white card which I scored at 3 and 9 inches to create a gatefold card. I then cut of the two top corners to create the roof.   I then sketched, using a pencil and a ruler, where I wanted to cut out all the panels to create window frames. I decided I wanted to add a bit of texture to the front panels, so I ran them through a wooden texture embossing folder. Then, using a cutting mat, I carefully cut out all panels with a craft knife and a ruler. I actually ended up breaking my craft knife I was crafting so hard! After all the panels were removed, I had a delicate frame. I attached some acetate to the back of each of the two doors and the greenhouse really started to take sh

Galaxy Peonies!

Today I am sharing a galaxy themed card, inspired by some beautiful multi-toned stamped flowers that I had seen on Instagram. I recently bought a galaxy themed paper pad from The Works, so decided that rather than paint the flowers by hand I would stamp and emboss them onto the paper pad itself! The stamp set is peony bloom by tonic studios. After this I added a little dimension to the flowers with some mica and metallic watercolours and some shading with coloured pencils. I added a flower centre using Dovecraft pearl effects in gold to the largest flower. For the leaves I used a Sizzix die set called floral layers cut in a shade of gold mirror card and a matt metallic gold card. The background was done with splatters of gold mica and metallic watercolours on black card. I went around the edge with my gold ink pad.  Finally the sentiment was partly cut out of purple mirror card with some small Trimcraft alphabet dies, and the second part was printed out on my co

One stamp, 4 different mediums.

Do you ever buy a stamp and wonder how you can get more use out of them? When I buy a stamp I try and think of different ways I can use it to create lots of different designs, so that I know I will get good value out of it.  Today I am sharing a little project I set myself to really stretch the ways I can colour a flower stamp.  I decided to colour one stamp with 4 different colouring mediums, to explore how they can create different looks with the same base image. I stamped the image with the same metro grey nuvo hybrid ink on the most optimum card stock I had for each medium. What is your favourite colouring medium?  Surprisingly I think my favourite turned out to be the one coloured with alcohol markers! I've been trying to improve my colouring with them over the past few months and I'm really enjoying colouring with them now. I love the control I have with them in getting all the little details in the stamp. I really like how bright the card turned out because o

Sweetie Shop Card

Image
Today I am sharing this sweetie shop card that I made at the weekend using the new Daisy Mae Designs village bakery range! I was inspired by the sweetie shelf to make this card and thought the chocolate box and macaroon stamp together make a really yummy looking shop window! I'm sure a few of us are dreaming of going to a sweetie shop right now! After stamping the images onto Neenah Solar White card with memento ink in Rich Coco, I  coloured them with my promarkers and fussy cut them out leaving a small border. I made the brick background by embossing the brick stamp in clear and then used the emboss resist technique over the top with a dovecraft brown ink pad and my blending brush. I used some rectangular nesting dies to cut out the appertures and made the window frame in a similar way, with a darker brown ink pad. Next I knew I had to make a cute awning to match! I used a sizzix die, which I elongated with partial die cutting, and coloured it with my promarkers

Making succulents with flower forming foam.

Image
I recently tried my hand at using flower forming foam to create some basic flower shapes. I then decided to step it up a notch and try using the dies I had in my stash to make some foamarian succulents!  I started by cutting the two larger outer layers of the succulents using craft work cards create a wreath dies 2 out of crafters companion flower forming foam in a pale green colour. The four inner layers could be cut with any generic dies you have in your stash already! To give the layers some more dimension I inked the edges with red or blue ink pads and a cotton bud. I also added a little green ink to the middle of the succulents by the same technique. Then all I had to do was carefully heat them on the iron - on a medium low heat setting until they curled up. Quickly whilst they were still a bit hot I shaped them with a ball tool. Once cool I glued them together with my trusty cosmic shimmer glue. I'm quite happy with how they turned out! If anyone tries

Welcome to my blog!

Hello and welcome to my blog! I starting sharing the cards and papercraft projects I make on instagram just under a year ago, which has been such a fun way to share my projects and I've loved meeting lots of crafty friends. I also share my projects on craftworld , where I have been a member since the beta testing days! I love the craft community and think it is a great way to develop your craft skills. I have quite a diverse craft style as I like trying out new things. Florals are my favourite thing to craft, whether its colouring a stamped floral with alcohol markers or watercolours or making 3D flowers out of die cut paper flowers or flower making foam. I enjoy making cards to suit a theme, especially anything featuring tea and cake! I also like creating masculine makes as they can be a great challenge and gets you to think about your craft stash in different ways. I decided to create this blog to be able to talk about what inspires my creations and to give details of how I make
